Adrenaline Pumping Moments of Star Trek Television History

When it comes to space travel and exploration, you can see the real thing from NASA on the news from www.directstartv.com/localchannels/, but space travel is even more fun when you look at scripted TV shows, too.

Great moments of television history have been produced courtesy of the myriad of programs that comprise the Star Trek universe. With the debut of the original series in 1966, tense moments full of drama have been produced for fans of all ages. The following comprise some of the most exciting moments of the Star Trek franchise.

No person ever had a better poker face than Captain Kirk in the episode “The Corbomite Maneuver.” The antagonist’s name is Balok and he calmly announces the destruction of the Enterprise will be in ten minutes for the crime of trespassing. Spock deduces it is time to resign in an apt comparison to the game of chess. Kirk counters by using one of mankind’s greatest weapons which is the art of deception. He calmly lies and announces that the ship has Corbomite which will reverberate and destroy the enemy ship. Balok eventually backs down after a few of the tensest moments ever felt in Star Trek.

Excitement can carry over from an episode or even an entire season. “The Best of Both Worlds,” is a two part episode from Star Trek : The Next Generation. Captain Picard is captured and assimilated into a Borg. The cliffhanger ends with the first glimpse of the new Picard called Locutus. The Enterprise opens fire and fans worldwide were left to ponder the ramifications until the next season.

Thrills were not the exclusive property of the first two incarnations. The Dominion brought a level of action to space battles previously unseen in episodes of Deep Space Nine. Species 8472 offered tense moments and an actual alliance between Borg and humans in the Voyager eries. Excitement did not have to be relegated to just action as a stirring ethical quandary exists about clones in Star Trek: Enterprise.

A variety of stimulating moments in many different manners highlight some of the facets that make the Star Trek franchise stirring television. Seasons to explore, cast members to root for, and moments to sweat through endear fans worldwide to some of the best science fiction ever created.

“V”: Why Some Fans Still Praise Failed Show

There were two incarnations of the V television series. Neither of which can be deemed a huge hit. The series was considered awful by a lot of science-fiction fans. However, it did maintain a fan following for years. This following contributed to a much better, but also short-lived new series in 2009.
